Francesco Rodano

Francesco has over 18 years of experience in the gambling industry, with expertise spanning both regulatory leadership and corporate executive roles. From 2007 to 2016, he led the Remote Gaming Directorate at Italy’s Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM), where he played a pivotal role in shaping Italy’s regulatory framework for online gambling, now one of the world’s largest regulated markets. During this tenure, he served on the European Commission’s Expert Group on Gambling Services, contributing to the landmark 2014 Recommendation on consumer protection principles and the prevention of minors’ access to online gambling.

Since 2016, he has held positions of increasing responsibility at Playtech, one of the world’s leading gambling technology suppliers, where he currently serves as Chief Sustainable Gambling Officer. In this role, he leads AI governance initiatives for responsible gambling and oversees the development of BetBuddy, the company’s AI-powered behavioural analytics platform. His work centres on leveraging artificial intelligence for player protection, with a strategic focus on differentiating between machine learning applications for risk detection and generative AI for personalised user interactions.

Throughout his career, Francesco has collaborated with regulatory authorities across all continents and contributed to the development of regulatory frameworks in Europe, North America, and emerging markets. He is a sought-after speaker at leading international industry conferences and maintains active research partnerships with universities and academic institutions worldwide.

Since January 2025, he has served as a member of the Scientific Committee at Fondazione FAIR.
